Saddam back in power?

I heard that an Iraqi official gave Saddam a fifty fifty chance at being let free and placed back in charge of Iraq. Wouldnt that be strange? I guess Saddams got embarassing information on Bushs father and other US government officials . They would rather cut a deal than allow such stuff to come out and face possible charges themselves. Oh what a tangled web we weave. Our government has a habit of helping bad guys when it suits them . We helped Saddam, Bin Laden and a whole host of other characters in our past and with the saddam trial approaching fast you can bet the lawyers for saddam will be using that to their advantage. We helped BinLaden in the Afghan Soviet war and we built him into a power. Now our chickens have come home to roost.

Is a leader guilty when his armies commit atrocities? If you say yes then should all leaders be subject to the same scrutiny? Bush dropping bombs on civilians could as easily be called atrocities aganst civilians. AbuGraib torture could be easily called atrocities.

Remember Saddam was guilty of gassing the Kurds but that was during a war. The Kurds had revolted and Saddam used the gas we gave him to put the revolt down.
